Three Reasons Why You Should Use Glass Display Cases Instead Of Acrylic Display Cases

You need to buy some display cases for your pawn shop, in order to display what you have for sale. In general, you have
two alternatives from which to choose; acrylic display cases and glass display cases. While each has its own distinct set of benefits and drawbacks, I will focus on the things that make glass display cases better than acrylic display cases. So, the following is a list of three reasons why you should use glass display cases instead of acrylic display cases.
Glass Display Cases Will Not Scratch As Easily As Acrylic Display Cases
While acrylic display cases often look great in some applications, you need to keep in mind that it doesn’t take much to scratch acrylic, and those scratches can distract shoppers away from looking at what you are trying to sell. All it takes is for someone to bump into the case or drop something on it, and you have scratches to deal with. While most scratches on acrylic can be repaired, it is still a pain in the neck and can be very time consuming. When you’re dealing with glass display cases, you don’t have this problem as glass doesn’t scratch so readily.
You Can Save Money By Going With Glass Display Cases
A lot of people would assume that acrylic display cases are less expensive than display cases that are made out of glass. After all, it’s just plastic. However, these folks would assume wrong, and it has to do with the reason that I described above. Due to the susceptibility to scratching, very special care must be taken when shipping acrylic display cases. In some cases, even the packing material can scratch the acrylic. Some suppliers refuse to ship acrylic cases for this reason. The added care that goes into shipping an acrylic display case makes an acrylic display case more expensive than a glass display case. So, if you’re looking to purchase a number of display cases, and you need to save money, then you may want to select glass display cases.
Glass Display Cases Aren’t Affected By Ultraviolet Radiation
If you plan on keeping some of these display cases near a window, then you may be better off using glass display cases. This is because acrylic, like most plastic items, can turn cloudy, or even yellow, as a result of long-term exposure to ultraviolet radiation. This effect can be seen all the time with most types of window privacy film, which needs to be replaced every so often. This exposure, over time, can make an acrylic display case rather unsightly, and divert the attention of shoppers away from what you’re trying to sell. With glass display cases, you don’t have this problem, as ultraviolet radiation doesn’t bother glass.
Resistance to scratches, cost savings, and resistance to the discoloring effects of ultraviolet radiation are just three of the reasons why you should consider using glass display cases instead of acrylic display cases.
